Many thanks. As is obvious I'm new to DA so I'm feeling my way around.
That's a really interesting discussion about where does traditional art finish and digital begin.
Is a scanned etching a digital piece because I now have a digital file of it or is it still a tradional piece because I still have a paper print?
I work in the print industry and deal with digital files everyday but I don't know the answer.
+well, the only way to share it through the web is as a digital file. The point is (partly) if the digital file accurately portrays the traditional piece or if it alters it significantly. Another point in discussion deals specifically with a puristic approach of what should be allowed as Traditional Art in deviantART vs/ the current, broader view that leaves the issue to the discretion of the artist (see the current definition in the journal) when digital means have been used to enhance the traditional piece. It would be cool if you added your thoughts to the journal thread :D+
